Jewish Agency for Israel - NBA Stars Shoot Hoops With Mevasseret Zion Youth
A delegation of former and current NBA players made a special visit to the Jewish Agency's Mevasseret Zion Absorption center on September 1, 2010. The players are members of SportsPower International, a group of former and current NBA players who act as role models to disadvantaged youth. The delegation included players Allan Houston, Jerome Williams, David Wood, and Dwight Howard Sr. as well as Anthony Bonner, Paul Grant, Darnell Lindsay, Shawn Hawkins and Bryan Crislip.

Well, for Israeli club members it doesn’t play quite that long but for a small group of Canadian and American golfers, getting to the tee box at the first hole in Caesarea is something more than a short drive to the local country club.

The Aug. 19 screening of the new documentary Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story began in a most appropriate way. “Shalom,” said Dave Kaplan, executive director of the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center in Little Falls, which served as the site for the film’s local debut. The small theater was sold out, with fans having reserved their seats weeks in advance. Folding chairs were set up to accommodate the extra guests.
