Physical Education High School Course
Healthy Active Living Education Course
Elective course for Grades 10 and 11 students
The aim of the Healthy Active Living Education course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop physical literacy and to enable individuals to grow their knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
Through participation and a variety of physical activities in a broad range of activity settings, students will learn how to make healthy choices now and lead active lives in the future. The course will expand the students learning on the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development, enhance their movement competence, personal fitness, and confidence.
Instructors will guide the students to develop their leadership skills, learn to interact and work positively with others, plus the ability to think critically and creatively.
The in-gym component will teach the students the fundamentals of sports activity focusing on a range of individual, team and competitive activities. Sports offered are basketball, volleyball, and general physical activity games. A certified Maccabi Canada coach and physical education instructor will teach this component.
The Healthy Active Living Education course has 2 components: In-Class & Gym. Student must attend both components weekly.
