Over the past five years, Maccabi Canada partnered with JCC Chai Sports and has entered teams into the highly regarded SAAC league (Soccer Academy Alliance of Canada).
Our 2002 squad has won four SAAC championships over the last five years and is poised to finish with third best record out of sixteen teams for the 2016 in what many consider to be the top team in the province. This summer the team finished with 20 wins, 2 losses, and 5 ties. In addition eight of the players on the team were named to the Maccabi Canada u16 team.
Currently the Maccabi Canada youth program includes elite teams at the 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 age groups. This winter a few of the age groups will be competing in the CAF 6V6 league.
The three teams train year around competing not only in leagues but also playing in futsal and hangar indoor leagues.
The goal of the teams is to provide elite training to the young athletes, allow kids to balance other sports/ summer camps in a competitive sports environment, and create a strong sense of Jewish community. The hope is that as the kids get older they will become future Maccabi Canada athletes. The kids receive coaching from former/ current Maccabi athletes Jason Mausberg, Gil Vainshtein, Dror David, and Ilya Orlov but have also had professional players and Maccabi Canada athletes Daniel Haber and Tomer Chencinski run clinics when not playing with their professional teams or representing Canada.
