Payment Schedule and Refund Policy
Participation Fees for the 21st Maccabiah Games:
Junior & Open athlete fees: $8750
Thanks to the generosity of our Maccabi Canada donors we are able to reduce the participation fees by 30% for our Junior and Open athletes. The subsidized fees for Junior and Open athletes is $8,750 CAD.
The Junior athletes will participate in Maccabi Canada’s Azrieli Israel Experience 5 day program that takes part prior to the opening of the games. Thanks to the support of The Azrieli Foundation we are able to offer the Juniors this experience at no additional cost.
Masters athlete fee: $12,950
Staff member fee: $1,600
Executive/non subsidized staff fee: $8,750
Athlete Fees includes:
Training camps/practices with the team prior to departure
Round trip airfare from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Tel Aviv
Transportation to competition venues and social events
Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner (Masters – breakfast and dinner only)
Opening and Closing ceremony participation
Day trips during the Games
Maccabi World Union accredited delegate’s participation fees
Junior & Open athletes and Executive/non subsidized staff
1st Deposit: $2,500 to be paid on the earliest between 30 days after selection to the team and no later than October 15th, 2020
2nd Deposit: $2,000 by December 15th, 2020
3rd Deposit: $3,000 by March 15th, 2021
Final Deposit: $1,250 by June 1st, 2021
1st Deposit: $3,250 to be paid on the earliest between 30 days after selection to the team and no later than October 15th, 2020
2nd Deposit: $3,250 by December 15th, 2020
3rd Deposit: $3,500 by March 15th, 2021
Final Deposit: $2,950 by June 1st, 2021

ATHLETE Refund and Cancellation Policy
We strongly advise that you take travel and cancellation insurance.
If an athlete withdraws from competing in the Maccabiah Games for any reason, all 3rd party donations are non-refundable. 1st party donations are subject to the following cancellation policy:
If an athlete withdraws before October 15, 2020 – all money paid by 1st party* donors will be refunded less a 12% merchant and administration fee.
If an athlete withdraws between:
October 16, 2020 to December 14, 2020 – For first party donations only, a penalty of 20% of the first deposit payment* will be applied. For amounts paid above and beyond the first deposit required, a 12% merchant and administration fee will be applied. (For clarity, if a Junior or an Open athlete withdraws from competing in the Maccabiah Games on December 1st, 2020 and they raised a total of $4,500 from 1st party donors, the 1st party donors will be refunded 80% of the first $2,500 and 88% of the remaining $2,000). All 3rd party donations are non-refundable.
December 15, 2020 to March 14, 2021 – For first party donations only, a penalty of 50% of the first and second deposits payment* will be applied. For amounts paid above and beyond the first and second deposit required, a 12% merchant and administration fee will be applied. All 3rd party donations are non-refundable.
March 15, 2021 to May 31, 2021 – For first party donations only, a penalty of 75% of the first, second and third deposits payment* will be applied. For amounts paid above and beyond the first, second, and third deposits required, a 12% merchant and administration fee will be applied. All 3rd party donations are non-refundable.
After June 1, 2021 – athletes will not be refunded any money.
*Deposit amounts are outlined in Maccabi Canada’s payment schedule above.

3rd Party donations for athletes that withdraw from the games will go to support our Adopt an Athlete program.
The airfare portion of a withdrawing athlete’s payment cannot be credited or refunded.
The non-refundable penalty of 1st party donation cannot be transferred to another participant’s account. These penalties coincide with the organization’s vendor non-refundable deposit schedule. Surplus funds will go to support our Adopt an Athlete program.
1st party donors may choose to not collect their refund and donate the refundable portion to another participant’s account, in which case, a tax receipt will be issued for the amount transferred.
1st party donors will receive an official donation receipt for the non-refundable (penalty) portion.
In the case where a sport or a team has been eliminated from the Games by Maccabi Canada or by the Organizing Committee in Israel, 1st party donors will be reimbursed 100% of their donation. 3rd party donors who donated in support of a specific athlete, sport, or a team will select one of the following options:
1. Their donation will be refunded minus 12% merchant and administration fees, and the tax receipt issued for this donation will be voided.
2. Maintain their donation which will be directed to another athlete in need, and keep the tax receipt.
The initial $50 application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
We strongly advise that all supporters purchase cancellation insurance.
A processing fee of $35.00 will be charged to any cheques that are returned to Maccabi Canada due to insufficient funds.
Donations made by 1st Party Donors will receive a tax receipt for a portion of the donation as follows:
Masters: $12,950 payable; Any amount above and beyond $7,027 (*to be confirmed and finalized post games) paid by 1st Party Donors would be tax receiptable
Open & Junior: $8,750 payable; Any amount above and beyond $6,576 (*to be confirmed and finalized post games) paid by 1st Party Donors would be tax receiptable
Executive: $8,750 payable; fully tax receiptable.
Subsidized staff: a donation of $1,600 is fully tax receiptable.
1st Party Donors will receive their tax receipt AFTER the 21st Maccabiah games.
Donations made by 3rd Party Donors will receive an immediate tax receipt for 100% of the amount donated.
1st and 3rd Party Donor Definition
A 1st party donor in relation to the athlete (athlete = person registered to participate in the Games) is defined as one of the following:
- athlete themselves
- sibling’s spouse
- another athlete
- spouse of another athlete
- child of another athlete
- parent of another athlete
- sibling of an athlete
- grandparent of another athlete
- grandchild of another athlete
- spouse of any of the above
- business or corporation owned/controlled by any of the above
3rd party donors are those not listed above
Paying for a team member while they reciprocate payment (or donation “swapping”) is not considered a 3rd party donation. A tax receipt should not be produced when a payment is exchanged between athletes or when a donation is reciprocated by return donation. A donation receipt will be issued for a true “gift” from one athlete to another. Donations will be denied when exchanged with:
a. another athlete
b. parent of another athlete
c. grandparent of another athlete
d. sibling or sibling-in-law of another athlete
e. spouse of another athlete
f. child of another athlete
g. business owned/controlled by any of the above
Transferring excess funds from athlete’s account to other participants
If an athlete’s account has funds in excess of their participation fee, all 3rd party donations will be allocated to Maccabi Canada’s Adopt An Athlete fund and will be used to help other athletes in need. First party donors may choose to allocate the extra funds towards Maccabi Canada’s Adopt An Athlete fund (and receive a tax receipt), otherwise, the money will be refunded to the payee minus a 12% processing fee. Refunds will be issued after the games by request only. Refunds will not be made post December 31, 2021.
