The Maccabi Canada Softball and Hockey teams are already in full swing when it comes to fundraising for next year’s Games. Dog walk in support Maccabi Canada

The first annual Dog Walk in support of Maccabi Canada’s athletes, was held on June 5th.
The Bowser 5k Dog Walk, at the Kay Gardner BeltLine Park, aimed to support Maccabi Canada’s Adopt an Athlete program, which financially supports qualified athletes to compete in the Maccabiah Games held every 4 years in Israel.

Softball coach Rosemary Theriault has simple advice for anyone who hasn’t been to Israel: “Get on a plane and go.” The 40-year coaching veteran had such a good time co-coaching Maccabi Canada’s open women’s softball team to a silver medal at the 2013 Maccabiah Games that she’s convinced anyone who has the opportunity to visit Israel should do so immediately.

Pillar, who is Jewish, anchored an all-star lineup at Maccabi Canada’s Sports Unplugged – Talkin’ Baseball. The event drew about 500 people to the University of Toronto’s Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Toronto-born broadcaster Dan Shulman, a Maccabi alum, interviewed Pillar and helped secure the other media figures interviewed: Mike Wilner, Shi Davidi, Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro. Read more...
