About Maccabi Canada

Maccabi Canada is focused on promoting Jewish identity and cultivating future Canadian leaders through the passion of sports. We are currently offering community sports programs and engagement opportunities around the GTA area and aim to expand across Canada.

Maccabi Canada crown jewel project is The Maccabiah Games, a prominent international sports competition often referred to as the “Jewish Olympics”, have become the largest regularly held international event in Israel. In July 2022 the Maccabiah hosted 10,000 athletes representing 80 countries, making it the third largest athletic event in the world, behind only the Summer Olympics and the World University Games. Maccabi Canada sent 600 athletes and staff to the last Maccabiah Games (2022) and was the second largest international delegation.

 

 

 

Community Sports Program Manager

The Community Sports Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of sports programs within the Maccabi Canada organization. This includes planning the seasonal sessions, leagues - tournaments, enrollment, managing coaches and volunteers, and ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants. The ideal candidate is passionate about sports, highly organized, and experienced in program coordination and team leadership. In addition, the CSP manager will assist the ED of Maccabi Canada with engagement programs (i.e. Maccabiah alumni).  


Position: Full Time
Location: GTA
Reports to: Director of Community Sports
 

Responsibilities

  • Plan program outline and schedules
  • Prepare program budget
  • Implement seasonal sports programs
  • Source and secure facilities
  • Program recruitment
  • Recruit and management of coaches, referees and volunteers
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all stakeholders (participants, families, team managers and coaches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing sports or recreation programs or equivalent experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, and MS office suite.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coaching certification in one or more sports an asset
  • Experience working in a community center, school, or youth sports organization.
  • Familiarity with league management software (e.g., League Apps, TeamSnap).
  • Bilingual abilities an asset

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and field work.
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required based on program schedule.
  • Supervision/work in indoor/outdoor gym/field environments may be required

Coaches: Community Sports

Maccabi Canada is looking for coaches for our on-going Community Sports Development programs

Sports: Basketball, Catchball, Soccer and Volleyball

Position: Part time

Location: Toronto, Richmond Hill & Vaughan, Ontario

Time: Weeknights and Sundays (on weekdays programs start at 6:00pm).

Qualification based pay level

Responsibilities

  • Design program outline
  • Teach the fundamental skills
  • Demonstrate & run drills
  • Introduce concepts of team play
  • Supervision of participants
  • Meet and greet parents
  • Program Administration may be required at practices

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth a must
  • Coaching Certifications
  • Maccabi experience an asset
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required

Sports Maccabi Liaison Program

Maccabi Canada provides quality community skill and development sports programs for youth ages 6-15 from grass roots to elite. Our Maccabi Sports Programs are continuing to grow and expand and we are seeking to hire Maccabi Program Liaisons (program supervisors) to assist in the weekly programs in Toronto and Vaughan. The Maccabi Sports Program Liaison would be representing Maccabi at the venue and with the participants.

  • Position: Part time
  • Days available: Sunday – Thursday
  • Time: Weekdays range: 6:00pm-10:00pm (based on location); Weekends range: 9am-12noon, 4pm-10pm (based on location)
  • Location: Toronto & Vaughan, Ontario
  • Qualification based pay level

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and safety of participants
  • Respond and nurture the participants
  • Meet and greet parents and field questions
  • Ensure gym and equipment is available and in good condition
  • Assist the coach with the practice (warmup, skills and drills), is an option but not mandatory
  • Program Administration may be required at practices
  • Commitment to be in attendance at weekly program sessions assigned

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth a must
  • Camp Counselor experience an asset
  • Coaching experience an asset
  • Maccabi experience an asset
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Police Back Ground Check; Vulnerable Sector Check
