In-Person Tryouts:

Maccabi Canada’s priority is the health and safety of our delegation. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, Maccabi Canada has convened a COVID Committee composed of leading Canadian health experts to ensure we are taking all the necessary precautions as well as adhering to local and provincial guidelines in all our activities.

Maccabi Canada coaches are now setting up tryouts across Canada and will be in touch with the athletes to invite them to attend tryouts.

In advance of the tryouts, Maccabi Canada is requiring that all individuals in attendance, both athletes and staff follow these guidelines:

  • Receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least two weeks prior to the tryout;
  • Provide documentation confirming proof of vaccination prior to the tryout;
  • Complete a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms the morning of the tryout and the night before if you are traveling from out of town. Information will be provided by email.
  • Masks and social distancing are required anywhere in the tryout venue, except if you are on the field / court / ice etc.
  • There are no spectators / parents / others allowed in the tryout venues.

  • There is NO OPTION for drop-ins at any tryout!! Due to our Covid safety measures, we will not be able to accommodate an athlete who does not apply and submit  in advance all the necessary documents.

  • If you have traveled outside of Canada and in accordance with government guidelines:
  • if you are fully vaccinated and returned within 14 days leading up to your tryout date, you will need to  provide proof of a negative Covid test that was taken upon your return to Canada.
  • if you are not fully vaccinated and have received your first dose, you will be subject to government guidelines and required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival (and not able to attend the tryout).
  • Billeting is only permitted if the guest athlete and the entire hosting household are fully vaccinated (two doses) at least 14 days before billeting.

  • All Junior age athletes (athletes born 2007 or later) must have a tryout waiver completed by their parent/guardian.

  • Please note that these requirements are subject to change, depending on local, provincial, and federal guidelines and recommendations from Maccabi Canada’s COVID-19 Committee.

As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these unprecedented times. Make sure to check the website frequently as any updates regarding staff information, team selection processes or timing will be provided online.
