Maccabi Canada and Canadian Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro Partner up!
As part of Maccabi Canada’s journey to become a leading organization in the Jewish community, we have been creating meaningful partnerships with other Jewish causes by annexing our brand as the leader in Jewish sports. This has led to wonderful collaborations and friendships with organizations such as Zareinu, Magen David Adom, the Jewish Day Schools, synagogues, camps and many others across the country.
Our most recent engagement is with the Canadian Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro. Beit Issie Shapiro is Israel’s leading institution that develops and provides innovative therapies and services for children with disabilities and their families. They also play a leading role in promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities into society.
”For me, Beit Issie represents Israel at its best: innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial.” Says Gilad Epstein, President of Canadian Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro.
“This is a great opportunity for Maccabi Canada to partner and support another organization in our community. It is important for all of us to work together and support each other.” Says Tali Dubrovsky, National Executive Director of Maccabi Canada. “For the past few years Maccabi Canada has entered a Maccabi riders team in the Zareinu ride, including our Gold medalist in Israel 2013, Sasha Gollish, and the Elite rider Ayal Rahat. The partnership with Zareinu has benefited both organizations and we are happy to increase our community engagement through the CFOBIS.” She adds.
The Canadian Friends of BIS approached Maccabi Canada to take part in their 5th Annual Soccerthon “Kicking For Kids 2015” which will take place on April 26th at the Trio Sportsplex in Woodbridge. The Soccerthon is a round-robin marathon of indoor soccer! A total of 16 adult teams with 6 players-a-side (goalie + 5 players) will participate. The event will include a Kids Zone and activities for children with disabilities.
“We decided to reach out to Maccabi Canada to strike a local partnership, no pun intended…” says Gilad. “With Maccabi we believe that we will raise the bar in the quality of the teams and the level of soccer at the tournament. We will integrate Maccabi instructors and youth in our Kids Zone program – this year we are introducing an inclusive soccer activity program for children with disabilities. We invite the extended Maccabi family to join our fun family event and look forward to seeing everyone there.”
Maccabi Canada will enter a Maccabi soccer team in the tournament, as well as help run free soccer clinics for children. If you are a Maccabi alumni and wish to participate, either as an athlete on the team or help to run a clinic, please contact the Maccabi Canada head office.
“This will be a great opportunity for our athletes to give back to the community through the sport that they love. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there” says Tali.
