About Maccabi Canada

Maccabi Canada’s mission is to develop and promote a Jewish identity in our youth, so they can become the future leaders of our community. We achieve our goal through the passion of sports.

The Maccabiah Games, a prominent international sports competition, often referred to as the “Jewish Olympics” have become the largest regularly held international event in Israel. In July 2017 the Maccabiah hosted 10,000 athletes representing 80 countries, making it the third largest athletic event in the world, behind only the Summer Olympics and the World University Games. Maccabi Canada sent 700 athletes and staff to the last Maccabiah games and was the second largest international delegation.

Maccabi Canada focuses on creating a path of engagement with the Jewish world, Jewish Identity and Israel by engaging youth and young adults through passion for sport. Maccabi Canada takes athletes who are Jewish to Israel, gives them an Israel Experience of a lifetime and brings back Jewish athletes.

The Junior Village is where the entire junior team, athletes and staff are accommodated, along with medical, communication and logistics team.
