Frequently Asked Questions
The Pan American Maccabi Games in Buenos Aires Argentina take place December 27, 2023 to January 5, 2024.
The Canadian delegation flights:
Depart from Toronto International airport on December 26, 2023
Return from Buenos Aires on January 6, 2024.

The flight to Buenos Aires departs from Lester B Pearson International Airport in Toronto. Athletes are responsible for the costs of travel from their hometown to Toronto.
Opening Ceremony – December 28, 2023
Closing Ceremony – January 5, 2024
The Canadian delegation flight will depart from Toronto International airport on December 26, 2023 and will return from Buenos Aires on January 6, 2024.
Please note that if you opt-out of the flight, you will responsible for your own flight arrangements and transportation to the Maccabi Canada accommodation centre.

Upon Registration, each participant will require to remit payment of a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT.

**Note: Golfer's fees are in addition to the participation costs above and will be paid in cash (USD) on site at the games. There will be no caddies and golf carts are included.

The athlete package includes:
The Jewish community of Buenos Aires will be hosting the competitions. Each age category (Junior/Open/Masters) will be competing at a different Jewish Community Center.
There will be scheduled shuttles available from the hotel to each competition venue.
** some sports will be competing in a different venue (either one that is dedicated to a different age category i.e. swimmers will be competing at Hacoaj regardless of their age category, or in a different off-site location due to the facility needs of their sports. There will be a few exceptions only).

Flight details:
OPTING OUT OF FLIGHT: Master and Open athletes ONLY may opt out of the flight (including any accredited family members). Maccabi Canada will provide a credit of $2300 for those who elect to opt out of our flight.
Junior athletes must travel with the delegation.
The entire Canadian delegation, including athletes from all age categories, staff and accredited family members will be accommodated at the Buenos Aires Marriot Hotel located downtown on 511 Carlos Pellegrini.*

Athletes will NOT be permitted to opt-out of the Games’ accommodations.
All Junior Athletes are required to fly with the delegation.
Open and Masters Athletes are permitted to opt-out of flights.

To be part of the Canadian Delegation you must meet the following 3 requirements:
1. Provide proof of Canadian citizenship and/or has lived in Canada for a minimum of 6 consecutive months in the year of the games.
2. You must be Jewish to be eligible. See Jewish eligibility criteria below.
3. You must meet requirements relevant to the sport for which you are nominating.
Jewish Eligibility Criteria:
Maccabi Canada invites all Jews, either by birth or by choice, to apply to participate as athletes in the Pan American Maccabi Games.
For the purposes of the Pan American Maccabi Games, our organization considers an athlete to be Jewish if they were:
a. born to at least one Jewish parent, or
b. were raised by at least one Jewish parent, or
c. Jews who went through a conversion by a Rabbi of any denomination to Judaism
